Lawrence Goodmurphy arrived in Prince Edward County somewhere around 1825 after apprenticing as a shoemaker for three years in Kingston ON. Shortly thereafter he met his wife, Lydia Garrett at a soiré at Sandbanks. Over the years Lawrence and his large Quaker family moved a lot. In the 1851 Census of Prince Edward County, Lawrence is listed as a Farmer and Quaker, aged 46, living on Lot 11 Concession 3 in Hallowell Township. In 1861 he is still there, again listed as a Farmer and Quaker, with his wife and 8 children. This is a view of the land.
