Settling on Settler is UnSettling
My definition of the term Settler with insight from Chelsea Vowel.
NOTE: Terms are tricky. And they change over time. We need terms so we can talk broadly about context and categories, but hopefully these don’t become labels or ways to enforce stereotypes. How someone else identifies you and how you identify yourself are often at odds. And as soon as it’s said, or down in writing you know someone is going to take issue with you defining them.
*Settler Insight: Someone suggested I should not capitalize settler, but should capitalize Indigenous. Do you think that this case change is way to make change?
