She told me: “Often times Natives get called in to cull certain animals when they become a nuisance. Needs Trapping is a way to make sure the animals weren’t just wasted.” The authorities would lift the usual restrictions and just let people have at em’ (rabbit in this case). The woman was really proud and excited to show me all the furs, and when I asked if I could buy one, she said she didn’t see why not. I took a long time trying to decide which one to get. I finally settled on a light grey one streaked with white, and a beautiful dark silver grey. They were 20 USD each.

Afterwards I realized what a strange coincidence it was that I’d bought pelts from Utica, NY in the Ancestral Homeland of the Mohawk Nation. The British Crown surrendered the MOHAWK VALLEY to the Americans at the end of the American Revolution and promised that in return the Mohawk Nation would be awarded huge tracts of land (equal to what was lost) north in what would become Canada.  Well, that’s not at all what happened.

I know some of the British Loyalists brought enslaved people to Charlottenburg. I wonder if Robert had any *slaves or black servants.
