I had this great idea of finding a partridge feather because Akwesasne means “Place Where the Partridge Drums.” Initially I imagined stumbling across one while roaming the Nutfield Tract, but the fact is I wouldn’t recognize a partridge feather if one flew up my nose.
Plus it turns out that since settlement and farming drove all the animals from the Nutfield Tract back in the early 1800s, there aren’t many partridges to be found.
Still, I held onto this idea that I would find a partridge feather …
