DECORATIVE EDGING - Highway Ditches, Nutfield Tract Indian Reservation, Settler Farmland
“This Land is accessible only by car. I can’t walk the land, I can only drive it.”
When the Nutfiled Tract was “ceded” in 1847 with the ST REGIS PURCHASE, the Akwesasne people were supposed to retain Hunting and Fishing Rights on the land. But because there hadn’t been any big game on the Nutfield Tract since the late 1700s when the settlers arrived, this was a farcical right.
