LEFT BACK QUARTER - Thurlow Twp, Indian Day School on Grape Island
“Quakers were the least judgemental. There were no residential schools run by the Quakers.”
Trish Rae told me that. She is the official historian for the Mohawk of Tyendinaga. I discovered her on Youtube and managed to get in touch. She has done research into the voyage of the 20 Mohawk families that came from the Mohawk Valley to the Bay of Quinte, and researched present day land claims for the community. She helped me understand the region before Loyalist settlement and how the land was used by various Indigenous Nations.
